A reality in motion

Agency

A project that draws its ancient roots from traditional viticulture that looks to the future and projects it onto international quality wine markets. A common vision where new generations carry out a wine project focused on innovation and the promotion of territorial specificities.
1970

The year of the foundation

One distant spring day in 1970, founding members Gaetano Taschetta, Giuseppe Chirco and Ignazio Oliveri spotted a white dove resting on the vineyard they were visiting in the Trapani countryside. A premonitory sign from which comes the name of a cooperative, destined to become a model for Sicilian viticulture and oenology.

1980

Start of production

In the first production factory, Le Tre Cupole, nestled between the countryside of Mazara and Salemi, Colomba Bianca begins to process its own grapes, with a view to valorizing the raw material, thus recognizing the work carried out in the vineyard by the small winegrowers local.

1990

First organic production projects

The demand for organic wines is increasing among a new segment of consumers, more aware and more demanding. Thanks to the valuable contribution of oenologist Carlo Ferracane, Colomba Bianca supports winegrowers in the process of reconverting their vineyards to certified organic farming, to express the potential of the territory also in this new market segment.

1997

Leonardo Taschetta elected president

The company is changing its face and directing its production philosophy towards processes of strengthening the production mission and valorization of the wine supply chain and the territory. The foundations of what is today Colomba Bianca were laid. The start of a virtuous path that will lead the company to become one of the largest wine cooperatives in Sicily, as well as one of the largest producers of organic wine in Europe.

2000 - 2010

Acquisition of new factories

Colomba Bianca is continuing its development plan, through the acquisition of new production plants. Located near the vineyards, the Tre Cupole, Vitese, Val di Mazara, La Vite and Torretta wineries will soon be dedicated to individual production specializations. Used for winemaking and aging processes, differentiated according to the varieties grown, these factories will, over the years, be increasingly equipped with modern and cutting-edge technologies.

2011

Start of the project linked to the production of sparkling wines

Coinciding with the start of the still wine bottling process, Colomba Bianca begins the project related to sparkling wine, celebrated with the release of a prestigious classic method. A path begins that will lead the company to become a point of reference in the Sicilian panorama, thanks to a system of know-how and cutting-edge technologies.

2016

First bottles of organic wine

The birth of the Vitese line, whose name comes from the winery of the same name immersed in the Vita countryside, marks the beginning of organic production in bottles. The first label produced is Grillo, which will be followed by a rich range of organic wines composed of indigenous and international grape varieties.

2017

The Resilience Project is born

Colomba Bianca continues its work to promote the historic vines of the Sicilian wine tradition. The Resilience project was born from the concept of “resilience” in the vineyard. The indigenous Perricone and Lucido, in particular, are the protagonists of a specific project of recovery and protection, within some historic vineyards of high average age which have carried out an extraordinary process of adaptation of the vines to the contextual habitat corresponding.

2018

Colomba Bianca celebrates its fortieth anniversary

Colomba Bianca celebrates the fortieth anniversary of the winery's production, through two exclusive and refined wines. Symbol of a journey of love in the constant search for the highest quality, the Quarantanni Bianco Riserva, together with the Rosso Riserva, reflect the commitment and passion of the 2480 winemakers.

2021

The new management headquarters is born

In Mazara del Vallo, in the municipality of Cartubuleo, the new institutional headquarters is inaugurated where, in addition to all the cooperative's offices, there is also a modern analysis laboratory equipped with cutting-edge technologies: a database that, harvest after harvest, contains a unique and invaluable wealth of information, which allows the company to obtain high quality wines.
